Take A Townsend Tennessee Vacation Near Gatlinburg

Tennessee has many popular destinations for vacations, including Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. However, one place that many people aren’t aware of is Townsend, Tennessee. Vacations here allow people to have a quiet, scenic vacation, as it is known as “The Peaceful Side of the Smokies”. There is an abundance of activities, shops, and accommodations in this quaint village at the foot of the Smoky Mountains.

The town is also near Cades Cove and the Little River region of the National Park, allowing for a peaceful vacation with easy access to the park. While vacationing or staying in Townsend the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is accessible via the entrance near Cades Cove so you don’t have to drive through the busy downtown area of Gatlinburg.

Townsend has only been chartered since 1992, but has made quite a name for itself as a peaceful retreat for those looking for less hustle and bustle than that which is offered by other neighboring cities such as Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The town is easily accessible to Knoxville, the University of Tennessee, as well as the more commercial areas of the Smoky Mountain region, but allows a getaway like no other.
