Robert Ripley’s mission in traveling around the world was to find the unusual, the odd as well as the just plain weird. He would document the things that he found, and bring what he could back with him from his travels to show to people. Those collections now make up the largest group of oddities that are part of the Ripley’s museums all over the world, including Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum Gatlinburg.
The museum has special rates for groups of 20 or more, as well as school field trips, although a museum of oddities might not be as educational as a museum of actual history, science, or information. However, for sightseers that travel to Gatlinburg, it’s definitely worth a look if you’ve got the time to kill and an intrigue about all of the oddities that you’ll find inside. The museum is located in and around the rest of the Ripley’s themed attractions, so you can spend an entire day or two just exploring the Ripley’s attractions.
If you’d rather see shrunken heads and bizarre stories of medical mysteries than hike a trail or go fishing, Ripley’s Believe it or Not Gatlinburg is definitely a place that you need to check out. It’s not expensive, and for all the oddities that you’ll find inside, it’ll be a worthwhile investment for certain.
